Daily Prompt: Being Spicy!

Daily Prompt: Do you love hot and spicy foods or do you avoid them for fear of what tomorrow might bring?

I like to at spiced food – and that is very different to enjoying spicy food so hot you can’t feel your mouth.

What is the point in causing yourself unnecessary pain? I will never get my head around why my uncle enjoys curries so hot, you’re unable to taste everything else you are eating and have to get through a whole tub of lip balm after, to soothe your burning lips. I will just never understand it.

Daily Prompt: Being Proud!

Daily Prompt: What’s your most prized possession? GO!

I want to name a few as I don’t like leaving things out, but I’ve managed to narrow it down to just two…

First is Monty, the teddy I got when I was just a teeny little baby in a hospital cot. He is older than me yet he still has his squeak and is surprisingly intact for saying I have had him for over seventeen years! I’m not afraid to admit that I still find it difficult to sleep without him, (and several other cuddly creatures who I have had to leave out of this post), and he has even starred in one of my previous daily prompt posts, (about soul mates I think)!

Second is… my signed McFly programme from their Keep Calm and Play Louder Tour. And I think I’m so proud of this because I didn’t just order a pre-signed item – I actually got on a train and travelled the 127 miles from Nottingham to London, then had to track down the hotel the meet and greet was being held at… and finally MET THEM! And they even wrote ‘To Ruby’! I’m sorry, it was just a very exciting and momentous time in my short life!

Daily Prompt: Being Forgiving!

Daily Prompt: Do you hold grudges or do you believe in forgive and forget?

I get bored of holding a grudge -it’s hard work!

I can forgive…

But I can’t usually forget.

When something has been said once, it doesn’t need to be repeated, because, like I said, it’s very hard to be forgotten. Which is why I try hard not to say things I’ll regret!

My advice? Forgive and (try to) forget!

Daily Prompt: Being a Partier!

Daily Prompt: You’re throwing a party — for you! Tell us all about the food, drink, events, and party favours you’ll have for your event of a lifetime. Use any theme you like — it’s *your* party!

The party I have in mind would require a lot of money and a large field and a warm summer night… so no, it’s unlikely that it will ever happen!

In the field, there would be a traditional fair with all the old-fashioned rides you see in the movies – a carousal, bouncy castle, helter skelter, Ferris wheel, coconut shy – you get the idea. So I suppose I’d go with fairground food as well; hot dogs, candy floss, burgers, pop corn – and doughnuts… a lot of them. And I’d quite fancy the Grease soundtrack playing in the background! As the night wears on, we would have a bonfire on the other half of the field, with lots of music and dancing and marshmallows. Then, when it all became too much, we would retire to our teepees filled with cushions and blankets and fall asleep… until the morning, when we’d do it all again because I hate to see good things end!

Daily Prompt: Being Alone (Again)!

Daily Prompt: What was it that drew you to your significant other? Their blue eyes? Their ginger countenance? Their smile? Their voice?

Seriously? You’re really doing this to me again Daily Post?

Yes, I am alone – but I am still young. So how about I start with some of the things I’d like to see?

  • Lots of smiles
  • A sense of adventure
  • Someone willing to take me to concerts and appreciate the music, (in turn I’ll go to places he wants to)
  •  Smiley eyes
  • Not a workaholic but at the same time someone who knows when to keep their feet on the ground
  • Will stay in with me and watch Disney movies in our onesies!
  • Love me, (of course!)

Daily Prompt: Being DIY!

Daily Prompt: If you could learn a trade — say carpentry, electrical work, roofing, landscaping, plumbing, flooring, drywall — you name it — what skill(s) would you love to have in your back pocket?

A plasterer!

I’ve always been fascinated by plastering. Years ago, when we were having the downstairs of our house refurbished, I remember standing outside in the garden and looking through the glass of the conservatory, watching as a man plastered our wall. Yes, I probably did look a bit creepy!

Perhaps it has something to do with my perfectionism. It’s so satisfying to see an old, scruffy, maybe cracked wall being given a new life, all of its holes being filled in and smoothed over with just a sweep of the hand. Even the colour is peachy and looks like its been taken out of the Mediterranean!

Yes, I would certainly love to learn plastering!

Daily Prompt: Being a Fangirl!

Daily Prompt: Who did you idolize as a teenager? Did you go crazy for the Beatles? Ga-ga over Duran Duran? In love with Justin Bieber? Did you think Elvis was the livin’ end?

Well, I’m still a teenager at seventeen. And, as people who have read some of my previous posts will know, my idols are obviously McFly, (get what I did there with the ‘obviously’?!) Anyway, they are absolutely and amazingly talented, funny, kind… you get the idea. I love them. A few years ago, I got to meet them in London and I cannot describe the feelings I had during that forty-five minutes. I managed to get one picture with Harry Judd, but I’m definitely not complaining!

Harry and me

(Please bear in mind that this was me a few years ago and my body was shaking uncontrollably – just focus on Harry instead!)

Daily Prompt: Being a Traveller!

Daily Prompt: Tell us about the top five places you’ve always wanted to visit. GO!

Ooh… this one is going to be difficult as I have only been out of Britain twice – once to Paris on a school trip and once to a German town in the south called Knittlingen, (that was on a German exchange). I loved both trips. I like to think that my lack of travel outside of Scotland, England and Wales will make me appreciate it more when the time comes!

  1. America – in particular, I would love to see the Grand Canyon and visit New York on New Years eve…dreamy. I think I might go on a road trip down Route 66 as well!
  2. Mexico – I know that it’s in America but I think it deserves a line of its own. I’ve dreamed of going to Chichen Itza in Yucatán  for a while now – I want to visit a Mayan city!
  3. Neuschwanstein Castle in Bavaria, Germany – so I can feel like I’m part of a fairy tale.
  4. Bora Bora – for obvious reasons, (although I think I’ll have to save my money a while longer for this one!)
  5. Venice – because who doesn’t want to stay in a city amongst canals?

Daily Prompt: Being Feisty!

Daily Prompt: How do you handle conflict? Boldly and directly? Or, do you prefer a more subtle approach.

This is quite a tricky one, as normally I don’t argue with people other than my sister, (and that leads to a lot of snapping, stomping, and then carrying on as though nothing happened). There was one time though when I just couldn’t stay out – perhaps that was silly of me, but then again, I wasn’t going to let her think she could get away with it! I was about fourteen and for some reason, a girl in my class had fallen out with my friend. I don’t remember much – just that I was standing with her and another friend when the girl walked past. She muttered something along the lines of “Urgh, buy some shampoo will you?” My friend retorted back and soon it turned into an argument, with the other girl laughing hysterically whenever my friend tried to reason with her. So in the end, I’d had enough.

“You know when you laugh like that, everyone else is laughing at you? You look pathetic.”

Maybe that might have been a bit harsh, but it shut her up long enough for us to walk away. Luckily, the same girl matured drastically over the following two years, turning into quite a likeable person!

Nowadays, I tend to just avoid the conflict and be civil when I need to be. It’s a lot less stressful!

Daily Prompt: Being Productive!

Daily Prompt: Are you a night owl or are you the early bird? What’s your most productive time of day? When do you do your best work?

I mentioned in another post that I think best at night – probably because my mind wants me to sleep and dream so I become imaginative and thoughtful! But I don’t really think I work best then – in fact, I don’t think I actually have a ‘most productive time of the day’. I woke up about a week ago at around nine o’clock – and I felt amazing! I was actually motivated to do some revision – weird, I know! So, that’s what  did. Then, after I’d eaten some lunch, I went into my ‘life’s too short to be wasting on revision’ mode – not entirely bad, I know, but still, it’s strange how my mind set changes just like that. Other days, it can be three o’clock in the afternoon when I get an urge to do something productive; other times it can be one in the morning! I kind of wish I had a productive time of day – it would make revision timetables a lot easier to make!
