Daily Prompt: Being Chatty!

Daily Prompt: It turns out that your neighbor on the plane/bus/train (or the person sitting at the next table at the coffee shop) is a very, very chatty tourist. Do you try to switch seats, go for a non-committal brief small talk, or make this person your new best friend?

I’m the type of person who tries to go for the non-committal brief small talk, but ends up being part of a very long conversation. It’s not that I don’t like speaking with people, it’s just that sometimes it’s nice being left to your own thoughts. I would never move seats – I usually just try to get interested in the topic and if I can’t I act as interested as I can!

Daily Prompt: Being Awkward!

Daily Prompt: When was the last time you watched something so scary, cringe-worthy, or unbelievably tacky — in a movie, on TV, or in real life — you had to cover your eyes?

I am going to be very general now, and I think anyone would be able to relate to this. The only time I really ever have to hide behind a cushion is when there’s a very, let’s jut say, ‘ intimate’ scene – and you’re watching with your family. I don’t think anything is so awkward!

Daily Prompt: Being Struck!

Daily Prompt: You’re at the beach with some friends and/or family, enjoying the sun, nibbling on some watermelon. All of a sudden, within seconds, the weather shifts and hale starts descending form the sky. Write a post about what happens next.

Well, I assume I’d be with my family and so we’d have our little beach tent up, and as it began to hale all four of us, (as well as the dog), would squash into it as best we could and just wait for it to stop. There’s always the case of sitting in the most cramped positions possible and watching as everyone else on the beach does exactly the same thing, but it does add an element of fun to the day! I’ve experienced this so many times on holiday – not as extreme as hale, but we have been caught up in thunderstorms before!

Daily Prompt: Being Repetitive!

Daily Prompt: Today, write about any topic you feel like — but you must reuse your opening line (at least) two more times in the course of your post.

I have never seen anything like this before. A flash of flags in a vibrant stream of people, followed by the clop-clop-clop of a thousand dancing horses carrying flowers in their manes.

I have never seen anything like this before. The warmth of sunlight coating everything in gold. Crowds laughing and singing and smiling; they move as one along cobbled streets filled with music.

Laughter, music, sunlight, people. I have never seen anything like this before. And it is perfect.

Daily Prompt: Being Associated!

Daily Prompt: Sherlock Holmes had his pipe. Dorothy had her red shoes. Batman had his Batmobile. If we asked your friends what object they most immediately associate with you, what would they answer?

Hm. This is quite a difficult one for me. I would like to say it would be something symbolic, but I have a feeling it would end up being food of some sort. Probably either nachos or my Nandos card! But then again, I would probably say the same for most of them!

Daily Prompt: Being Scented!

Daily Prompt: From the yeasty warmth of freshly baked bread to the clean, summery haze of lavender flowers, we all have favorite smells we find particularly comforting. What’s yours?

Mine are slightly weird. My first one is the smell of freshly cleaned bed quilts when I’m snuggling down at night with my Youtube videos after a very tiring day. My second is the combination between that summery smell of flowers and rain with the slight scent of tarmac. It’s probably because I love living in the city but at the same time I have travelled to the country all my life! If I smell ether of these, I feel instantly at home.

Daily Prompt: Being Knowledgeable!

Daily Prompt: A mad scientist friend offers you a chip that would allow you to know what the people you’re talking to are thinking. The catch: you can’t turn it off. Do you accept the chip?

No. I’m the type of person that would take it to heart if someone thought something negative about me. Either that or I’d just get distracted from what they were saying anyway and end up not listening to them, but to their thoughts!

Daily Prompt: Being Fictional!

Daily Prompt: Go down the rabbit hole with Alice; play quidditch with Harry Potter; float down the river with Huck Finn… If you could choose three fictional events or adventures to experience yourself, what would they be?

Ok, one of them is going to have to be from Harry Potter. Probably the Yule Ball, when Voldemort isn’t wielding his wand around and killing people.

Second would be the not very original tunnel scene from The Perks of Being a Wallflower, because it just sends shivers down my spine every time I think about it or watch it or read it. I just want to do it!

Finally I would love to experience the final dance in Footloose. And I wish I could dance like that. They all look so happy in this scene, both in the 1984 version and in the 2011 movie. I want to join in a big happy dance like that!

Daily Prompt: Being a Procrastinator!

Daily Prompt: We all procrastinate. Website, magazine, knitting project, TV show, something else — what’s your favorite procrastination destination?

It can be anything with me! I sometimes just go downstairs and watch daytime TV, (Jeremy Kyle and Jerry Springer are favourites), other times I will just sit in the conservatory and flip through magazines aimed at women forty to fifty years older than me. When it starts getting desperate, I will go on travel websites and plan out the nicest holiday I could get for a very small budget, or simply just scroll through shop websites with price tags way out of my reach!

Daily Prompt: Being Host!

Daily Prompt: You get to plan a dinner party for 4-8 of your favorite writers/artists/musicians/other notable figures, whether dead or alive. Who do you seat next to whom in order to inspire the most fun evening?

I am going to be very very unoriginal in this prompt as although I do like certain artists and writers, I don’t know them well enough to decide who they would sit next to and if I would even want them at my dinner party! So, unsurprisingly, I’d invite each member if McFly to sit next to each other because I know we’d have a great time and their combination would mean lots of laughter. I’d also invite Benedict Cumberbatch and have him seated next to Martin Freeman, because if their chemistry in real life is as good as it is onscreen, I’d be having a whale of a time!
