Daily Prompt: Being Changed!

Daily Prompt: You wake up one morning to a world without mirrors. How does your life — from your everyday routines to your perception of yourself — change?

For the first few days I think I’d be checking my reflection in whatever water I could find – I don’t think I’d be the only one either! But as the weeks wore on and more and more people were taking the more natural approach to the way they looked, I’m sure I’d become a lot more relaxed and comfortable – I’d save some time getting ready in the morning as well! I also think people in general would become less judgemental – which is just a nice thing overall! Perhaps it wouldn’t be so bad after all…

Daily Prompt: Being Great!

Daily Prompt: Do you agree with Jane Fonda’s favorite exercise motto, “no pain, no gain?” Is it impossible to attain greatness without considerable hardship?

I think in a way I would like it to be true. Although it would be nice to get something from nothing all the time, that never happens for the most of us anyway. At least if you have worked hard for something, you know you have earned it and it feels so much more rewarding once you have it! Some people are just lucky enough to be born into greatness and never have to go through the ‘pain’ to ‘gain’ whatever it is they want!

Daily Prompt: Being Awake!

Daily Prompt: How often do you get to (or have to) be awake for sunrise? Tell us about what happened the last time you were up so early (or late…).

The only times I am up for the sunrise is either in winter when I have to walk to college early or when we are going on holiday. The last time was on our way to Cornwall; we woke up at about four in the morning and the sun began to rise as we were driving along the motorway. As I’ve said before, I love just travelling and there is nothing like watching the sky change colour whilst listening to some good music in the car! I wish I could see it more – if only it didn’t involve getting up early!

Daily Prompt: Being Nosey!

Daily Prompt: We often hear strange snippets of conversation as we walk through public spaces. When was the last time you overheard something so interesting, ridiculous, or disturbing you really wanted to know what it was all about?

Walking around town, it’s definitely not rare to overhear other people’s strange conversations! Most of the time the most interesting ones, (in a sad sort of way), are the arguments. Last year I was at a festival in our local park when a woman hurled a punch at the man standing in front of me, straight in his face. Slurring her words, she said something along the lines of: “You just did it again didn’t you? You just couldn’t f*****g help yourself.” She then staggered away while the guy in front just laughed a bit and walked away. Not much of a conversation, but it was definitely interesting!

Daily Prompt: Being Charitable!

Daily Prompt: The internet has recently been swept up by the ALS Ice Bucket Challenge. Is there a cause — social, political, cultural, or other — you passionately believe in? Tell us how you got involved — or why you don’t get involved.

Is it really bad for me to say this? I wouldn’t say I was ‘passionate’ about many causes at all. Of course, that doesn’t mean I don’t believe in them; I hate to see people starving around the world as much as the next person, but I don’t want to have the images forced down my throat and then be made to feel guilty about it. I donate to charity and have raised a decent amount of money before, but sometimes I feel like too many charities are, in a way, quite demanding. I think I prefer smaller charity groups – recently a group I was in raised enough money to buy a laptop and projector for a small HIV support centre. They were so grateful and it was fun to do as well!

Daily Prompt: Being Excited!

Daily Prompt: As a kid, were you happy or anxious about going back to school? Now that you’re older, how has your attitude toward the end of the summer evolved?

I was always excited to go back to school! I got to see all my friends again and in a way, it was exciting to show everyone how much you’d ‘grown up’ over the holidays, like if you’d got a cool side-fringe or a new style altogether. Now, I’m not so excited. Don’t get me wrong, it’s not awful, but since Year Eleven until now I don’t look forward to it as much – the pressure of exams every year isn’t exactly thrilling!

Daily Prompt: Being Complimented?!

Daily Prompt: What’s the best (or rather, worst) backhanded compliment you’ve ever received? If you can’t think of any — when’s the last time someone paid you a compliment you didn’t actually deserve?

I’m not really in a thinking mood today! The last ‘iffy’ compliment I received was from a guy I know: “You look like a boy in my year at school… don’t take offence, all the girls think he’s really good looking.”

Daily Prompt: Being Sassy!

Daily Prompt: We’ve all had exchanges where we came up with the perfect reply — ten minutes too late. Write down one of those, but this time, make sure to sign off with your grand slam (unused) zinger.

Unfortunately I can’t remember any specific examples, although I know they have happened! I wish I was good at adding sass to a heated exchange, but really, I’m just not. Besides, the only times I have wanted to add a reply have been when my old art teacher was in my face telling me that my work looked like a small child’s. In the end I just sat glaring at her instead!

Daily Prompt: Being Helped!

Daily Prompt: Congrats — you’ve been handed a robot whose sole job is to relieve you of one chore, job, or responsibility you particularly hate. What is it?

I would say college work but then I suppose I’m not really helping myself when it comes to actually doing the exams! I’m also a bit weird in the fact that I enjoy tidying my room – so it can’t be that either. One thing I really hate is phoning people I don’t know – I have to really prepare myself before making the call and I go so shaky. I don’t even know why! But yes, if I were to have a robot at hand it would be the one making appointments over the phone!

Daily Prompt: Being Musically Thankful!

Daily Prompt: What’s the first line of the last song you listened to (on the radio, on your music player, or anywhere else)? Use it as the first sentence of your post.

I’d tell myself you don’t mean a thing…

but then I’d be lying. Without the people who read my blog I don’t think I would carry it on – that’s just the type of person I am! If I don’t have other people’s ‘confirmation’ of what I am writing, I usually don’t think it’s very good – so thank you for actually reading!

The song was Paloma Faith’s “Only Love Can Hurt Like This” by the way!
