Daily Prompt: Think about the town where you currently live: its local customs, traditions, and hangouts, its slang. What would be the strangest thing about this place for a first-time visitor?
I have a feeling this prompt is aimed at people living in quirky little towns…my town, (or rather city), is quite big and…well, city-like. But I do like it! I live in a suburb on the edge of Nottingham where not a lot happens, (other than Batman being filmed at Wollaton Park!) but it’s only a small drive away into the city centre. There isn’t really anything that strange about Nottingham – it’s a nice place to wander around, (in the right places, of course), and has a variety of shops and pretty places to eat and visit. There’s a misconception that Nottingham is quite a rough city and it is in some areas, but it’s definitely not as bad as people think. So perhaps for a first-time visitor, the strangest thing would be not getting mugged in the street!
