Daily Prompt: Being Syllabic!

Daily Prompt: Today, write a post about the topic of your choice — using only one-syllable words.

Let’s talk food. I love it. I don’t have a… fave food, but I do hate fish and things like that. Prawns – yuck. I’m in a food mood as it’s that time of the year soon – you know, the one with that white-haired man dressed in red. I can’t wait. And the food will be great. We’ll have meat (the kind that starts with ch-), mash, sprouts, roast stuff and things that I can’t write in this post! Bring it on!

Daily Prompt: Being Emotional!

Daily Prompt:If you could paint your current mood onto a canvas, what would that painting look like? What would it depict?

My background would be an ombre of pale pink and mint green to represent content and comfort right now. They’d be deep orange paint dripping over the background from the top of the canvas because I’m going to a wedding tomorrow and I’m excited because I hardly ever go to weddings! Then, from the bottom of the canvas, they’d be a small amount of black paint smudged upwards – that would be the anxiety and worry. But overall, it would be a very pretty canvas indeed!

Daily Prompt: Being Artistic!

Daily Prompt: One day, your favorite piece of art — a famous painting or sculpture, the graffiti next door — comes to life. What happens next?

Pete Spowage

I couldn’t limit myself to just one painting, but I love Pete Spowage’s ‘Park Life’ collection, particularly the one above. They seem almost magical to me! So if it came to life… I imagine the birds tweeting and sweeping across the top of the canvas, the trees swaying and the loved up couple walking towards me. They would pull me inside the painting and I would become one of them – a moving silhouette against a white background. We would walk into the painted forest and they would tell me all about their park life, and then I would take them on a visit to my world and we would wander into Pete Spowage’s gallery, where they could visit their long lost friends .

Daily Prompt: Being Adventurous!

Daily Prompt: Have you made your bucket list? Now’s the time — write about the things you want to do and see before you become dust in the wind.

I’m not even sure myself right now! But I suppose this is my opportunity to dream and hope, and at some point I will hopefully have fulfilled them!

So here it is – sorry that it’s just a list; I just enjoy reading from bullet points on other people’s blogs so decided to do it myself. Plus, I’m very tired!

My Bucket List of Life:

Small Things:

  • Win a competition
  • Sell a piece of art work one way or another
  • Give something to a homeless person
  • Write down some recipes in that recipe book I’ve had for two years but not yet written in!
  • Go skinny dipping, (again)
  • Hold or stroke a bat, (the mammal, that is)
  • Go to a festival outside of Nottingham!
  • Stand on top of a mountain and sing ‘Let I Go’ as loud as I can
  • Go to the theatre
  • Be part of a flash mob

Medium Things:

  • Pass my driving test at some point in the very near future!
  • Get a part-time weekend or evening job, (which, as I’m sure I’ve said/ranted about in previous posts, I can’t seem to get at the moment!)
  • Find a guy to go on lots of adventures with, and who preferably appreciates McFly and Disney, (and me!)
  • Go on a holiday with all of my onesie friends before we all go our separate ways, (sob!)
  • Go to Germany, practice my speaking skills and visit my exchange partner again
  •  Visit the Neuschwanstein Castle whilst I’m there
  • Meet McFly again!

Big Things:

  • Go to university and study English Language then Journalism, (pretty straight-forward, I’m hoping!)
  • Become a journalist or writer soon after that and love it!
  • Buy a small house or apartment, refurbish it in my own special way then rent it out, (this one’s a little random, but hey, that’s what I want to do!)
  • Go on a trip around America and see all the sights, especially the Grand Canyon – perhaps a Route 66 road trip as well?
  • Get married, (hopefully with the same guy!) and wear the perfect red wedding dress I’m always looking for, (that sounded a bit obsessive… but it’s always nice to be prepared!)
  • Have a child or two, (not three!)
  • Buy my own house and make it as quirky, cute and cosy as I can!
  • Have an opportunity to do some travel writing
  • Be happy!

Daily Prompt: Being Alone… Once Again!

Daily Prompt: Tell us your funniest relationship disaster story.

Daily Post, why must you do this to me?! I have no disaster to tell of… I have no relationship stories to tell of either!

To compensate for this, here’s a photo I took of a cute couple in Wales, (I’m not that weird – it was for my art work last year!)

Daily Prompt: Being a Fighter!

Daily Prompt: Tell us about a time when you fought authority and took a stand against “the man.” Did you win?

Wow. This is one I could talk about for a long time!

During my GCSE years of school, I had an art teacher; she was just something else… and not in a good way!

Every single lesson, (without a doubt), she would make it her aim to humiliate someone in our class. I remember in Year 7, she made a boy stand on his chair holding his work and proceeded to point out every little thing that was wrong with the piece to the class. Then, once she made the boy agree with what she’d said, she made him rip the piece in half in front of everyone and told him to start it again. The most annoying thing about her was that she smiled every time she did something like this, as if trying to involve the class and get them to laugh with her, to make it all seem like a joke. Which it might have been for her, but it certainly wasn’t for most!

In year 11, I had planned out a very rough sketch in my book of something which could have been my final piece. She looked at it and told me it looked like a ten year old had drawn it. Then, as I tried and failed to tell her that it was just a rough plan, she flicked through the rest of my sketchbook and exclaimed that I probably wouldn’t be able to get an A for my end grade.

In my very final exam, she watched for ten hours as I painted my canvas, sewed into it and finally finished it off. The lesson after, she told me that it was far to simple and that because of this I wouldn’t be able to get my A grade. So I had to use an extra hour to add more detail, when she could have just told me when she looked at my plan before the exam.

Anyway, (getting to the actual point of the prompt!), one day, after she had reduced one of my friends almost to tears, we complained to our head of year about her. He was very sympathetic and even told us that some of the teachers didn’t like her attitude in the staff room, but at the end of the day, he couldn’t say anything to her because it would be like asking her to change her personality. So no, we didn’t win!

Here’s a picture of my final piece anyway:

Daily Prompt: Being Expressive!

Daily Prompt: Do you love to dance, sing, write, sculpt, paint, or debate? What’s your favourite way to express yourself, creatively?

I enjoy being able to write this blog. Something I’d really like to be able to do more of is creative writing, but I never seem to find the time, and when I do my mind goes blank!

I also sing a lot… in the shower! I wish I was actually good at it but honestly, I’m not. In fact, I’m awful!

Painting my nails… I love it! Although being such a precisionist it usually takes me at least half a day to finish them. This is probably the main way I express myself – I get so inspired by the fact that you can create art on just your nails – they’re like tiny canvases!

I love creating things as well. Recently I began making charms out of polymer clay, probably because I adore the cuteness of the finished product! This year in art I have been transforming old, unwanted and unloved books into something new. The amount of comments I’ve had telling me how cruel I am for doing that to a book I’ve lost count of, but all I want to do is give a new lease of life to something that was mouldering away at the back of a charity shop.

Clay Cakes!

So today I thought I’d do another artsy and crafty post, because just recently I’ve begun to make charms out of polymer clay!

Do you know when you’re on YouTube and one video leads to another which leads to another and you end up being on something completely obscure and different to what you were first watching? Well, that happened to me and I ended up watching a video tutorial on how to make a blueberry cake out of polymer clay. I was overwhelmed by the cuteness of it all and how realistic the charm looked, and before I knew it I had watched about a hundred tutorials and had so much inspiration for making my own. So I went online and ordered some basic materials for making the charms, (mainly polymer clay!), and I made a couple of little clay cakes!

I’m not going to lie – I am very proud of my first attempts! They took so long but I think it was worth it in the end!

Daily Prompt: Being Alone!

Daily Prompt: Ever been dumped by a boyfriend or girlfriend? Was it a total surprise, or something you saw coming? Tell us your best worst breakup story. Never been the dumpee, always the dumper? Relate the story of a friend who got unceremoniously kicked to the curb. Change the names to protect the innocent if you must.

Well… can’t say I can really relate to this daily prompt!

Daily Prompt: Being Everlasting!

Daily Prompt: Imagine yourself at the end of your life. What sort of legacy will you leave? Describe the lasting effect you want to have on the world, after you’re gone.

I want people to be happy because of something positive I once did…
