Daily Prompt: Being Picky!

Daily Prompt: Are you a picky eater? Share some of your favorite food quirks with us (the more exotic, the better!). Omnivores: what’s the one thing you won’t eat?

I don’t consider myself to be a fussy eater… but I probably am. I don’t like egg, (only in cakes!), mince meat, mayonnaise or seafood -there’s probably more, but these are my worst ones! However, I’m good with spicy food, salty food, sweet food – you get the idea. I’m not the fussiest, but I’m not the best either! As for quirks, I wouldn’t say I had any really exotic ones. I did used to eat olives on toast though…don’t knock it until you try it! The thing is nowadays, everything involving food and quirkiness had already been done and is now seen as relatively normal. If anyone has any new ones, please do tell me!

Daily Prompt: Being Handmade!

Daily Prompt: Automation has made it possible to produce so many objects — from bread to shoes — without the intervention of human hands (assuming that pressing a button doesn’t count). What things do you still prefer in their traditional, handmade version?

I think that anything baked, such as cake or scones, are almost always better handmade than when they are manufactured. Being someone who enjoys food, (a lot), I have had plenty experience in the tasting of many shop-bought and homemade products, and I can safely say that my mum’s flapjack would beat the manufactured ones any day! But, to be less biased, I admit that the shop bakery can be quite convenient sometimes!

Daily Prompt: Being Flavoursome!

Daily Prompt: You have to choose one flavor that your sense of taste will no longer be able to distinguish. Sweet, sour, bitter, salty, umami, spicy (not a taste per se, but we’re generous): which one do you choose to lose?

I think it would have to be bitter, mainly because I can’t think of many things I eat which actually are bitter. I can’t imagine not tasting the sweet and sour of Chinese food, or the saltiness of cheesy twists. Mmmm.

Daily Prompt: Being Guilty (or Not)!

Daily Prompt: What’s the one guilty pleasure you have that’s so good, you no longer feel guilty about it?

I used to feel guilty when I ate out, probably because my parents barely ever do and the saying “your body is a temple” completely goes out of the window when your piling usually unhealthy food into your mouth. But it’s so good. I don’t feel guilty anymore; you should enjoy these little things in life and not take them for granted – plus it isn’t like I eat out often! I’ve also decided that one day, when I actually have a job, I’ll take my parents out for meals as often as we want, to make up for all the times I’ve been without them!

Food is there to be enjoyed – so enjoy it!

Daily Prompt: Being Spicy!

Daily Prompt: Do you love hot and spicy foods or do you avoid them for fear of what tomorrow might bring?

I like to at spiced food – and that is very different to enjoying spicy food so hot you can’t feel your mouth.

What is the point in causing yourself unnecessary pain? I will never get my head around why my uncle enjoys curries so hot, you’re unable to taste everything else you are eating and have to get through a whole tub of lip balm after, to soothe your burning lips. I will just never understand it.

Daily Prompt: Being Unhealthy!

Daily Prompt: What’s your biggest junk food weakness? Tell us all about it in its sugary, salty, glory.

Haven’t we had a prompt almost identical to this already this year? Oh well, I could talk about food all day!

It’s difficult for me to narrow it down to just one weakness – I have several! But as I’ve already discussed doughnuts in a previous post, I think I’ll focus on salty goodness this time.

My BIG one is nachos. If I enter a room and I sense the presence of nachos, be they just Doritos or the whole shebang, I will happily spend my time with them, enjoying their company. There’s just something about their cheesy tanginess; the crunch combined with smooth salsa and guacamole, topped off with cheese and sour cream, just blows me away every time.

Mmmmm. I want nachos now.

Daily Prompt: Being Me!

Daily Prompt: Describe your personal style, however you’d like to interpret that — your clothing style, your communication style, your hair style, your eating style, anything.

To describe it best, I would say I like to appear ‘comfortable, casual and charismatic’. I mainly wear simple jeans or pretty skirts with either a jumper or printed t-shirt. I once read somewhere that if you try too hard to dress like you normally wouldn’t, people won’t notice your personality as much, so that’s probably one of the reasons I don’t really care about following the trends, (it’s a nice reason anyway!) I love the new shoe-boot fashion though. I don’t do much with my hair either; I usually just wear it down on a normal day or up if I’m doing something active, (which isn’t that often!)

Eating style – anything apart from seafood, egg or mayonnaise. Is that a bit weird? One of my favourite things is Chinese food, especially crispy duck pancakes with plum sauce, cucumber and spring onions – yum. And nachos.

I enjoy socialising with people I like but hate it when I’m forced to speak to someone that can’t be bothered to even act interested, but I’m sure I’m not the only one who feels that way!

I was always a strange child – I loved bats and spiders and my favourite programme was ‘Mona the Vampire’. Bats still remain my favourite animal just because they are so cute and weird and anything with bats on I have to buy. If ever there is a spider in the bath I have to rescue it, even now. At the moment I love ‘The Walking Dead’, ‘Hollyoaks’ and ‘Breaking Bad’, (the finale made me cry – anyone else?) I got a ‘Heisenberg‘ t-shirt for Christmas and I love it!

I can’t really think of anything more to write – so I think that will do for today!
