Daily Prompt: Being Photogenic!

Daily Prompt: Open the first photo album you can find — real or virtual, your call — and stop at the first picture of yourself you see there . Tell us the story of that photo.

The photo I can see is of my sister and I when we were much younger. I must only be about six and so she is probably three. We are on holiday, (I think it might have been in Norfolk?), and are standing behind a caravan on the grass, surrounded by two ducks and their ducklings. I remember so clearly that there was a river behind our caravan pitch, and that this family of ducks kept waddling up to us on a daily basis and we would throw them bread. In the photo, I’m watching as a duckling pecks at my foot. There is a reason for this. Because I am me, I decided to put pieces of bread on both my feet and watch the duckling eat them off my trainers. I remember being so entertained!

Daily Prompt: Being Happy Again!

Daily Prompt: What is the one word or phrase that immediately cheers you up when you hear it?

Whenever somebody mentions it, I can just picture everything; evening walks along a beach; colourful holiday cottages; sunshine, sand and sea; watching seals from a coast path… and the list goes on!

It really does help to think of Summer!

Daily Prompt: Being Decisive!

Daily Prompt: If you could split your time evenly between two places, and two places only, which would these be?

I don’t really like being decisive!

I would love to spend half my time in Bristol – it is very much a quirky, artistic city with so much to do!

My second place would be St Ives in Cornwall, because of the scenery and the seaside and all of the lovely little holiday houses there!

Daily Prompt: Being a Traveller!

Daily Prompt: Tell us about the top five places you’ve always wanted to visit. GO!

Ooh… this one is going to be difficult as I have only been out of Britain twice – once to Paris on a school trip and once to a German town in the south called Knittlingen, (that was on a German exchange). I loved both trips. I like to think that my lack of travel outside of Scotland, England and Wales will make me appreciate it more when the time comes!

  1. America – in particular, I would love to see the Grand Canyon and visit New York on New Years eve…dreamy. I think I might go on a road trip down Route 66 as well!
  2. Mexico – I know that it’s in America but I think it deserves a line of its own. I’ve dreamed of going to Chichen Itza in Yucatán  for a while now – I want to visit a Mayan city!
  3. Neuschwanstein Castle in Bavaria, Germany – so I can feel like I’m part of a fairy tale.
  4. Bora Bora – for obvious reasons, (although I think I’ll have to save my money a while longer for this one!)
  5. Venice – because who doesn’t want to stay in a city amongst canals?

Daily Prompt: Being Intrepid!

Daily Prompt: What’s the biggest chance you ever took? Did it work out? Do tell!

Well, I’m only so far into my life so I can’t say that I’ve had to take any life-changing chances so far…but I’m sure my time will come!

One time, my family and I went on a long walk whilst on holiday in the south coast, (in England). It wasn’t the flattest of walks, in fact, it was really quite hilly. So by the time we reached the beach signifying that we were close to the car park again, I was so relieved. That was, until, we realised the sea was coming in. And that would mean we would have to take the long route around – over two more hills. The time came for me to take a chance, even if it probably was irresponsible. I started jogging across the sand, my family close behind, dog at my heels. The wind rushed past me, the sea roaring in my ears. We were nearly there. I could see the car. Just one last stretch; we leapt over a cluster of rock pools and onto the remaining sand beyond, salty water almost lapping at our feet. And then… we arrived. The feeling of warm tarmac beneath my feet had never been so pleasant. I sunk into the sun-kissed backseat of the car, and sighed a breath of relief and success. I had taken a chance and it had worked out.

Daily Prompt: Being Alone… Once Again!

Daily Prompt: Tell us your funniest relationship disaster story.

Daily Post, why must you do this to me?! I have no disaster to tell of… I have no relationship stories to tell of either!

To compensate for this, here’s a photo I took of a cute couple in Wales, (I’m not that weird – it was for my art work last year!)

Daily Prompt: Being Summery!

Daily Prompt: Theoretically, summer will return to the polar-vortex-battered Northern Hemisphere. What are you looking forward to doing this summer? If you’re in the Southern Hemisphere, what are your fondest memories of Summer past?

Daily Prompt: Being able to Relive!

Daily Prompt: If you could return to the past to relive a part of your life, either to experience the wonderful bits again, or to do something over, which part of you life would you return to? Why?

Last year, we went to Cornwall, (as usual!). On a couple of the evenings we went for a walk, one down on a small beach and the other along the coastal path, both in the sunset. On the beach we could see some dolphins swimming alongside a boat in the distance, (I’ve never seen them before out in the open!) and from the cliff path, we watched tens of adorable little seals playing with each other in the sea. I wish I could relive those bits – they were magical!

Daily Prompt: Being Christmassy!

Daily Prompt: Tell us about times in which you linger — when you don’t want an event, or a day to end. What is it you love about these times? Why do you wish you could linger forever?

Christmas Slippers

What is there not to love?

The family, the friends, the lights, the food, the presents, the winter, the excitement, the music, the leftovers, the tree, the tinsel, the angel, the reindeer, the sleigh… and Santa!

I’m absolutely sure that I’m not the only one who wants Christmas to end. In fact – ‘I wish it could be Christmas, every daaaay!’

Daily Prompt: Being Traditional!

Daily Prompt: Traditions: we’ve all got ‘em. They might be family dinners on special occasions, or having a particular kind of cake on your birthday (Jeanne Cake, natch), or popcorn at the movies, or meeting your friend for a 5k run in the park, rain or shine, every Sunday morning. What are your favorite traditions, large and small? What is it about your traditions that keep them going strong for you?
