Daily Prompt: Being Animalistic!

Daily Prompt: If you were one part human, two parts something else — another animal, a plant, an inanimate object — what would the other two parts be?

I have thought about this a lot over my short lifetime – it seemed like an important decision to consider for some reason! So, after a lot of thought, I have come to the conclusion that I would have the wings of a huge bird – perhaps an eagle? The thought of flying and soaring and dipping and diving and travelling anywhere… why not?

The second part was more difficult for me to come up with. I don’t particularly want to have a part of an object or plant attached to me, and I’ve settled only on becoming a bird, nothing else. So, in the end, I’ve decided to have tiny little flowers growing with my hair – like a flower crown, but permanent! I want to be a pretty bird…

Daily Prompt: Being Powerful!

Daily Prompt: You’ve been given the superpower to change one law of nature. How do you use it?

I would create little areas where there was no gravity, so that whenever you felt like it you could pop into one of these spaces and float your worries away. It would have to be easy to get out of though!

Daily Prompt: Being a Partier!

Daily Prompt: You’re throwing a party — for you! Tell us all about the food, drink, events, and party favours you’ll have for your event of a lifetime. Use any theme you like — it’s *your* party!

The party I have in mind would require a lot of money and a large field and a warm summer night… so no, it’s unlikely that it will ever happen!

In the field, there would be a traditional fair with all the old-fashioned rides you see in the movies – a carousal, bouncy castle, helter skelter, Ferris wheel, coconut shy – you get the idea. So I suppose I’d go with fairground food as well; hot dogs, candy floss, burgers, pop corn – and doughnuts… a lot of them. And I’d quite fancy the Grease soundtrack playing in the background! As the night wears on, we would have a bonfire on the other half of the field, with lots of music and dancing and marshmallows. Then, when it all became too much, we would retire to our teepees filled with cushions and blankets and fall asleep… until the morning, when we’d do it all again because I hate to see good things end!

Daily Prompt: Being Destined!

Daily Prompt: Do you believe in fate or do you believe you can control your own destiny?

This is a difficult one for me, because I want to believe both.

I want to believe that fate will lead me to find my future husband – cheesy, but true! And perhaps my dream job too?

But at the same time, I definitely want to control my destiny! The thought of not being able to worries me a bit! If we can’t, doesn’t that just mean we’re being controlled by someone or something?

That scares me… or maybe it’s just magic?

Daily Prompt: Being in Love!

Daily Prompt: Remember your first crush? Think about that very first object of your affection. Oh, the sweaty palms. The swoony feeling in your stomach. Tell us the story of your first crush. What was it about this person that made your heart pound? Was the love requited? Change the names to protect the guilty or innocent if you must! No judgement here. Happy Valentine’s Day!

Harry PotterMy first crush? That would have to be… Harry Potter. There was something about the way he wielded his wand and wore his glasses. Was it requited? Hm, for some reason I don’t think so – and I was only nine!

Happy Valentine’s Day!

Daily Prompt: Being Aladdin!

Daily Prompt: Today is your lucky day. You get three wishes, granted to you by The Daily Post. What are your three wishes and why?

  1. Is it bad that I’d wish for a magic lamp? That way I could pretend I was in a Disney film and still get three extra wishes! So now I have five wishes left!
  2. My second wish would be for everyone I know to live a happy life.
  3. Thirdly – I’d wish for a universal cure – a medicine that could cure everything!
  4. I’d wish for my dog to live for an extra fifty and healthy years!
  5. My fourth wish would be to come across some money – not too much and not too little!
  6. And finally, I’d wish for my dream job of being a Travel Writer!

Daily Prompt: Being Colourful!

Daily Prompt: Write about anything you’d like, but make sure that all seven colours of the rainbow — red, orange, yellow, green, blue, indigo, violet — make an appearance in the post, either through word or image.

These books were a part of my childhood – I always felt so special, (and still do!), because I have the same name as the first ever Rainbow Fairy – Ruby the Red Fairy! There was something so exciting about going to the shop and getting the newest edition. I only found out a couple of years ago that the author ‘Daisy Meadows’, (Narinder Dhami), also wrote ‘Bend it like Beckham’.

Daily Prompt: Being Magical!

Daily Prompt: You have been transformed into a mystical being who has the ability to do magic. Describe your new abilities in detail. How will you use your new skills?

I am freedom. Whenever life becomes too much for me, I simply spread my wings and escape. I have to be careful though, in case I am spotted. When everyday life begins to choke me once in a while, I exit my garden through a little door in the fence and walk straight into the woods behind my house. Then, when I am positive no-one can see me, I transform my self into something new – not a bird nor a beast – just a creature. I have glorious black wings and feathers that cover every inch of my body, and when I turn my beak towards the breeze my whole being ripples like the leaves above me. Now I can take off; I stretch my colossal wings until I am triple my size in width, then soar upwards, away from everything normal and familiar. As the air rushes past my face, I climb higher and higher into the sky until only the clouds can see me – to anyone down below I will just appear to be a tiny speck of a bird in the distance. I turn into a black shadow moving against a sky streaked with impossible colours, and everything feels magical. For now, I can finally let go of everything. My abilities? I can fly of course; if I want to I am even able to freeze people just by staring at them. I like to think that I am looking out for the other people down there. Sometimes I like to terrify thieves so that they will never steal again – they are found in the morning in a drowsy state, sometimes surrounded by tiny pieces of thawing ice. Other days I enjoy swooping into dark alleyways where muggers lurk and carry them off to isolated islands until they have learnt their lesson.

One day, when my feathers were dappled with water droplets and I was squinting against the blare of the sun as it dipped behind the horizon, I could have sworn I saw Peter Pan laughing in the distance. Maybe one day I will even stumble across Neverland myself.
