Daily Prompt: Being Spontaneous!

Daily Prompt: 10 minutes. You and your keyboard (or smartphone. Or tablet. Or pen and paper). No pauses, no edits, no looking back: it’s free-write time!

Today I spoke to a friend in my German class about flying to Berlin together for a few days in February. I’ve wanted to go there for a while now but obviously I’ve had no-one to go with, no money and the likelihood of me actually going through with a trip like that was very unlikely. But now I’ve found someone who knows how to budget, (like me) and we both want to practice our German, I think it actually could happen! One of my aims in life is to travel as much as possible and discover new cultures and cities – I’ve travelled around most of the UK but have only been abroad twice, so I’m so excited to actually do this!

I know I haven’t really written much in the space of ten minutes, but I’m being distracted by the TV. 🙂

Daily Prompt: Being Magical!

Daily Prompt: Train stations, airport terminals, subway stops: soulless spaces full of distracted, stressed zombies, or magical sets for fleeting, interlocking human stories?

I like to think they are magical sets for fleeting, interlocking human stories, although I don’t think everyone would agree, especially people who have to travel regularly. I’ve only been to an airport twice and when I do take a trip to the train station, it’s usually one for a couple of hour’s travel. But I love the atmosphere in these places! They’re places of possibility and are full of life, (once you’ve got past the price of tickets obviously) and I think it’d be interesting to just sit in one and watch the world go by. The fact that you could potentially just hop on to a train and end up on the other side of the country away from all work and stress excites me so much. When I have some money, I might do just that!

Daily Prompt: Being Transported!

Daily Prompt: You’ve been given the ability to build a magical tunnel that will quickly and secretly connect your home with the location of your choice — anywhere on Earth. Where’s the other end of your tunnel?

Perhaps it’s a bit foolish of me to choose a city I have never actually visited before, but I’m going to anyway. I’d choose New York, mainly because it is in America and looks like a beautiful city, but also because I recently dreamt I was a character in Made In Chelsea and we all flew there and had an amazing time, (I may or may not make decisions based on dreams). I’m also thinking about the money I could save on flights and the fact that I could fulfil my dreams and travel around America once I’m there. These prompts really make me wishful!

Daily Prompt: Being a Roadtripper!

Daily Prompt: ‘Tis the season for road trips — if time and money were out of the equation, what car-based adventure would you go on? (If you don’t or can’t drive, any land-based journey counts.)

A road trip along Route 66 will always be my dream in life – of course the only issue would be the money! But, as the prompt says, if time and money were out of the equation I would be one very happy person! I want to visit America anyway and the thought of cruising along Route 66 surrounded by beautiful scenery makes me so excited – I can imagine myself leaning out of the car window, hair whipping around my face, music to match the scene filling the air… hopefully one day it will happen!

Daily Prompt: Being Reminded!

Daily Prompt: You’re embarking on a yearlong round-the-world adventure, and can take only one small object with you to remind you of home. What do you bring along for the trip?

Ooh lucky me! I’d love to go on a trip around the world.

I would bring Monty, my teddy, who has been featured in previous prompts and who I’ve had since I was born. Enough said. If I got lonely, I could just whip him out of my backpack and fall asleep with him under the stars – hopefully in the tropics somewhere!

Daily Prompt: Being Delayed!

Daily Prompt: You’re at the airport, your flight is delayed for six more hours, and none of your electronic devices is working. How do you pass the time?

I would take advantage of the (hopefully) free food and drink that the airport would (hopefully) provide due to inconvenience, then I would take a seat and just watch people leave for their various destinations, or those arriving home after their long flights. Being a person who has only been to an airport once, I think I would find a weird interest in this – just like with train stations, I love the atmosphere of excitement and the possibility of being able to travel anywhere!

You should definitely watch this incredible video of an airport welcome at Heathrow – it’s amazing!

Daily Prompt: Being Rich!

Daily Prompt: You just inherited $1,000,000 from an aunt you didn’t even know existed. What’s the first thing you buy (or otherwise use the money for)?

I like to think that if I did suddenly become a very wealthy person, I wouldn’t go crazy and spend my money all at once or on pointless things. I would obviously donate to charity, (and then pay to see the place and the people who have benefitted from it), but first I think I would fulfil my dream and plan a trip around America! I would probably go overboard and try and visit as many places as possible, but the first thing I’d book would definitely be a road trip along Route 66… if only!

Daily Prompt: Being Stranded (in Space)!

Daily Prompt: You are on a mission to Mars. Because of the length of of the journey, you will never be able to return to Earth. What about our blue planet will you miss the most?

The beautiful views!

Daily Prompt: Being Photogenic!

Daily Prompt: Open the first photo album you can find — real or virtual, your call — and stop at the first picture of yourself you see there . Tell us the story of that photo.

The photo I can see is of my sister and I when we were much younger. I must only be about six and so she is probably three. We are on holiday, (I think it might have been in Norfolk?), and are standing behind a caravan on the grass, surrounded by two ducks and their ducklings. I remember so clearly that there was a river behind our caravan pitch, and that this family of ducks kept waddling up to us on a daily basis and we would throw them bread. In the photo, I’m watching as a duckling pecks at my foot. There is a reason for this. Because I am me, I decided to put pieces of bread on both my feet and watch the duckling eat them off my trainers. I remember being so entertained!

Daily Prompt: Being Futuristic!

Daily Prompt: Your local electronics store has just started selling time machines, anywhere doors, and invisibility helmets. You can only afford one. Which of these do you buy, and why?

At first I thought anywhere doors – which would make travelling the world a whole lot cheaper and easier! I wouldn’t buy a time machine, simply because I’d be scared of it malfunctioning and being stuck in the ice age, and just because I’m happy staying in the present, (at the moment anyway!).

Then I thought about invisibility helmets. And all the exciting things I could do with one. I could pretend to be a ghost, (on mean people), and I could slip into so many places without anyone knowing. I wouldn’t need an anywhere door when I could just step on a plane unseen and fly to places, (immoral, I know, but I’m guessing an invisibility helmet would be so expensive it would make up for this).
